The New York Times previews Hoefler & Frere-Jones’s latest, Vitesse. Oh my. Also: dying to know about “the secret formula we can’t talk about yet”. (via Jez Burrows)
If H&FJ come out with a new platform for delivering fonts on the web, I’m guessing we might see the beginning of a new standard technology for such things. The Typekit endeavor (led by one of my favorites, Jason Santa Maria) seems to have been moderately successful, but I’m not sure they have the resources or clout to compete against an American type giant. No matter what, I’m excited to be able to use Gotham, etc. on the web some day. Oh, and Vitesse is quite the sturdy slab serif - I like.
